On May 27th, the European Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Scientific Research in Egypt, organized a workshop entitled ‘Research and Innovation in the MED: EU Different Instruments toward Shared Goals’. More than 100 participants from the Euro-Mediterranean region attended the workshop. Participants included members of research and innovation clusters and projects funded under different EU programmes and instruments supporting innovation. Fabio Maria Montagnino, CEO of Consorzio ARCA (NETKITE project leader), presented the NETKITE project and its achieved results. The workshop was organized in the context of the European Year of Development 2015, and aimed at creating synergies between projects funded under the EU different instruments.
These included the projects funded under the Framework programme, as well as projects funded under the ENPI bilateral research and innovation programmes in the south Med region , in addition to the bi-regional ENPI funded multilateral cross-border cooperation Programme (CBC MED) that aims at reinforcing cooperation between EU and partner countries regions placed along the shores of the Mediterranean. Fifteen projects were presented during the workshop adopting the speed pitch approach followed by round table discussions around different thematic including energy, food and agriculture, water and environment, ICT in addition to technology transfer and social innovation.
