The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology has announced the launching of Egypt IPR Helpdesk. It offers free of charge, first-line support on IP and IPR matters to Egyptian researchers in addition to beneficiaries of funded research projects, Egyptian SMEs and those involved in transnational partnership agreements. The Helpdesk service is operated by a team of IP experts at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, experts at the Egyptian Economic court and run in cooperation with the European Commission’s IPR Helpdesk. It offers tailor-made advice on individual IP and IPR questions, and provides written answers within four working days. The team also assesses and revises IP related issues within contracts and other agreements such as licensing or distribution agreements, joint ownership agreements and consortium agreements. The IPR-Helpdesk is now functioning through ASRT Support center system. Cases’ and inquiries’ submission will be also accepted via email as well” IPR-Helpdesk@asrt.sci.eg” till the end of November 2014. Starting from December 2014, users are encouraged to use only the web-based support center system.
Egypt IPR helpdesk will issue a monthly newsletter, including the frequent asked questions, starting from July 2014 and an innovation management fact-sheets. We believe that this initiative will help Egyptian researchers and entrepreneurs, to recognize the importance of IP and enable them to manage and safeguard their intellectual assets and ideas, as a main key to ensuring innovation and competitiveness.
