« Research and Entrepreneurship » a pilot scouting

NetKite project adopts ISO 21500 standard

As foreseen in the EU projects, also NETKITE adopted a quality plan for its development in order to achieve a high quality standard of the process and of the activities and deliverables resulting from them.

In order to ensure that project processes are effectively used to produce quality project deliverables, NETKITE adopted an innovative system based on the measure of Process Quality Standards settled by the International Organization for Standardization ISO 21500:2012. The International Standard ISO 21500 provides guidance on concepts and processes of project management that are important for, and have impact on the performance of projects. It provides high-level description of concepts and processes that are considered to form good practice in project management. Read More

Jordan Arab TV interviewing NetKite JUST coordinator

interviewProf. Fahm Abu Al-Rub, JUST coordinator for Netkite project was interviewed for two hours on June 28, 2014 on Jordan Arab TV Channel. Abu Al-Rub introduced Netkite project for Jordan where he discussed the general and specific objectives as well as the expected outcomes and deliverables from Netkite. Abu Al-Rub encouraged young researchers to start working on their ideas so that they can participate in the competition.

Egypt IPR Helpdesk

help deskThe Academy of Scientific Research and Technology has announced the launching of Egypt IPR Helpdesk. It offers free of charge, first-line support on IP and IPR matters to Egyptian researchers in addition to beneficiaries of funded research projects, Egyptian SMEs and those involved in transnational partnership agreements. The Helpdesk service is operated by a team of IP experts at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, experts at the Egyptian Economic court and run in cooperation with the European Commission’s IPR Helpdesk.  Read More

Cyprus focus group meeting

cyprus focus groupDiogenes Business Incubator, invited people for the Cypriot Entrepreneurial Ecosystem to discuss NET KITE’s goals and how Cyprus could benefit from it. The meeting took place on the 19th June 2014 at the University of Cyprus.

They had a very interesting discussion with people from Telecommunications, ICT, Public Bodies, the Cyprus Youthboard, Universities, Accelaretors, Incubators, Business Angels, Research and Innovation Centers and more. Read More

Entrepreneurship in Palestine…challenges and prospects

Students competingIn the recent years, because of   the growing political crisis in Palestine, livelihood deterioration, high rates in poverty (West Bank 21.3%, Gaza Strip 37.6%) and the low involvement in nascent businesses (3%), Palestine has not undergone any substantial improvements in entrepreneurship, shows the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM). In other words, the Total Early-Stage Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) rate until 2013 is around 10% which cannot help in driving the economy factors in the area. On the other hand, and according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate has been increasing to reach 20.3% in the west bank and 31% in Gaza reported in 2013. Moreover, the report shows that the highest unemployment rate was 41.1% among youth aged 20-24 years. Read More
